Leadership session at Radisson, Noida on December 26, 2005

The session was attended by around 30 people. Following is the definition of a good leader according to them:

  • People can follow willfully
  • Enables more leaders
  • Can mobilize people to confirm to a common objective
  • Takes initiative
  • Acts as a coach and guide
  • Takes right decisions at the right time
  • Creates an environment conducive for highest productivity
    • Aligns individual and team goals
    • Motivates the team
    • Gets the team buy-in
    • Understands the need of the team members
    • Does not let stress trickle down to the team
    • Respects and acknowldes individual contribution
    • Resolves conflicts at the right time and in a timely fashion
  • Takes charge
  • Works in a team
  • Bridges gap between organization goals and implementation
  • Guides the whole team towards the final goal
  • Shapes teams success and takes ownership of failure
  • Leads by action
  • Does not need to prove that he is a leader
  • Can define the future of the team

I guess GOD as we know him/her or if we believe in him/her is a poor leader according to these criteria.
